A statistical model to describe invariants extracted from a 3-D quadric surface patch and its applications in region-based recognition

چکیده
A statistical model, describing noise-disturbed invariants extracted from a surface patch of a range image, has been developed and applied to region based pose estimation and classification of 3D quadrics. The Mahalanobis distance, which yields the same results as a Baysian classifier, is used for the classification of the surface patches. The results, compared with the Euclidean distance, appear to be much more reliable reliable.

Three-Dimensional Surface Recognition Based on Genetic Algorithms
A robust method for 3-D surface recognition based on genetic algorithms is proposed in this paper. With the help of a specilic least square fitting algorithm, the model-based 3-1) st,rfacc recognition problem is first converted into an optimization problem. Then. a genetic algorithm is used to solve the optimal problem in order to extract general quadric surfaces. Finally. all the extracted .~u...
متن کاملObject Recognition based on Local Steering Kernel and SVM
The proposed method is to recognize objects based on application of Local Steering Kernels (LSK) as Descriptors to the image patches. In order to represent the local properties of the images, patch is to be extracted where the variations occur in an image. To find the interest point, Wavelet based Salient Point detector is used. Local Steering Kernel is then applied to the resultant pixels, in ...

Face expression recognition is useful for designing new interactive devices offering the possibility of new ways for human to interact with computer systems. In this paper we develop a facial expressions analysis and synthesis system. The analysis part of the system is based on the facial features extracted from facial feature points (FFP) in frontal image sequences. Selected facial feature poi...
متن کاملReconstruction-Based Recognition of Scenes with Translationally Repeated Quadrics
ÐThis paper addresses the problem of invariant-based recognition of quadric configurations from a single image. These configurations consist of a pair of rigidly connected translationally repeated quadric surfaces. This problem is approached via a reconstruction framework. A new mathematical framework, using relative affine structure, on the lines of Luong and Vieville [12], has been proposed. ...
